A huge shout-out to Wix for sponsoring this video; their tools are a crucial part of my workflow. Stick around to see how it all …
Becoming a freelance web developer in 2024 is an attainable goal with the right strategy and dedication. Here’s a step-by-step guide to kickstart your journey into the freelance world.
1. Learn the Fundamentals:
Start by mastering HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. These are the building blocks of web development. Utilize online courses, tutorials, and bootcamps to solidify your understanding. Platforms like Codecademy, Coursera, and free resources such as MDN Web Docs are great places to begin.
2. Choose a Specialization:
Web development is a broad field. Decide whether you want to focus on front-end, back-end, or full-stack development. This choice will guide your learning path and the tools you’ll need to master, such as React for front-end, Node.js for back-end, or both for full-stack development.
3. Build a Portfolio:
Create a portfolio to showcase your skills. Include projects that demonstrate your ability to solve problems and build responsive, functional websites. Use platforms like GitHub to host your projects and eFrelance to reach potential clients.
4. Join eFrelance:
Sign up on eFrelance, a platform specifically designed for freelancers. Create a compelling profile highlighting your skills, experience, and portfolio projects. eFrelance offers tools to connect freelancers with clients looking for web developers.
5. Network and Market Yourself:
Engage in online communities, attend webinars, and participate in local tech meetups. Use social media platforms to showcase your work and connect with potential clients.
6. Maintain Learning and Adapting:
Web development is ever-evolving. Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends by following blogs, reading documentation, and continuous practice.
By following these steps, leveraging platforms like eFrelance, and continually honing your skills, you can successfully become a freelance web developer in 2024.

If I don't have an agency, can I still find clients on LinkedIn,indeed…. ?
@nhsplayer07
Don’t know about this one Chris, you said wp wasn’t for you but then advertises Wix which imo is inferior. You don’t own the site once you leave the platform, it’s simpler for sure but I don’t think it has the custom plug in support wp does .. also have to note I haven’t checked out wix for a while, unless things have changed in the past few years.

@ricvargas1
Hey @RealChrisSean, thanks for the video. Fantastic content!
Quick question, so when you hunt for clients you look for just web development positions (ie: websites , e-commerce, etc…) or front-end development as well? And you aim for projects with a clear beginning and an end or ongoing work?
I ask cause most of the open positions out there are for permanent work to do long term maintenance or something…
Thanks again mate!
@Jon55034
Hi, is it realistic to learn web design from scratch and start as freelance directly? or should always gain corporate experience first?
@as_if
"Hey, my name is Chris, and I run a web development agency. I see that you're looking for [specific skill or role]. Given the opportunity, I would love to do this for you at a fraction of the price. Here is my portfolio and what I've done for other companies, which I'd also love to do for you."
@kristijan1258
Hey, I'm a Full-stack Web Dev with over 2 years of experience. I have been active on UpWork on and off in the past 2 years, but recently I've become more and more active and I've applied to many jobs but only got 1 offer so far. The client that sent me an offer said that my resume stood out he really liked it and the projects I've worked on previously were really well done, gave me a 5 star review and gave me bonus money on top of the initial contract payment cause he was really satisfied with my work on his project. I also often bid on job posts to be first on the applications list but it doesn't seem to help and I just waste connects.
So can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong that the other applications don't work for me. Thanks!
@improvingwithfun
Hey man, thanks for an informative video. Does it make to niche down, let's say to only e-commerce? Also, do you have any statistics on how successful cold outreach is? Do you use LinkedIn for this?
@zancrow_gaming
Please i need web developer job. JavaScript developer with 1+ year experience
@codeintherough
Whats interesting about wix is I bet they created it with the idea that theyll replace the basic developer but created a new breed of web builder specialist, but the good thing is instead trying to not acknowledge that failure theyre embracing it with wix studio
@Bring_Up_Change
Hi sir, I want to learn from you. Can you please help me. I want guidance for myself

Which stack do you use?
@SakuraWulf
Well, now I know about Wix even though I haven't watched their ads. This was an interesting watch. I hope it all works out for you and that you're able to streamline your process so that you're able to be more hands off, even if you have to go through the issues most do.
@E.Lcodev
Thanks for the inspiring words, If you did it, we can too! Cheers.

If you could make a serried just on this that would be great! Like how to start and launch a company as a complete newbie junior developer. I’d rather work as a freelancer for 250k than at a company for 500k
