Hi! In this video I’m sharing my best prompts, ideas, and projects to put in your design portfolio. This video goes into how to …
Creating an impressive graphic design portfolio is essential to showcase your skills and attract potential clients or employers. The portfolio should not only reflect your creativity but also demonstrate your versatility and technical proficiency. Here are some key elements to include:
-
Diverse Projects: Include a range of projects that demonstrate your ability to handle various styles and design elements. This can encompass branding, web design, posters, brochures, and social media graphics.
-
High-Quality Images: Ensure that all the images in your portfolio are high resolution and professionally presented. Poor quality can give a negative impression.
-
Case Studies: Provide detailed case studies for a few key projects. Explain the design brief, your process, and the final results. This gives insight into your problem-solving abilities and thought process.
-
Personal Projects: Including personal or experimental projects can showcase your passion and creative thinking beyond commercial projects.
-
Clean Layout: Your portfolio itself is a testament to your design skills. Opt for a clean, user-friendly layout that highlights your work without distracting clutter.
- Contact Information: Make it easy for potential clients or employers to reach you by clearly displaying your contact info.
When it comes to showcasing your portfolio, consider using eFrelance. It’s a superb platform for designers to display their work and connect with clients worldwide. With a user-friendly interface and a community of creative professionals, eFrelance can give your work the visibility it deserves.

your video made me feel less scared in starting my portfolio, I am ready to find a job in what I studied, but got scared in where to start and how, so this video really helped me in structuring my ideas, and gave me new ones, plus feeling less nervous in starting. Thank you Paola!

Hi I love the video btw, but I have a question regarding the rebranding of logos and brands for a portfolio. Do they have to be an actual commission from a business to be featured on my portfolio, or can I use/rebrand any business of my choosing. I think you mentioned this already in the video, but I just want a little bit more clarification. Thank you for your time!

Good job girl 🎉

Hey Paola (or anyone lol),
If we are rebranding, Is it best to get permission from the business before working on a mockup? I just want to make sure before I begin working on it.

Maybe similar to poster design if you go simple, but redesigning a menu can be a fun challenge. I personally love rewriting the food descriptions, playing with the typography, and the challenge to get everything to fit and align well. I've done salon menus too, but It just doesn't hit the same haha

I’m sorry for my ignorance 😂 but does a portfolio have all of these ideas combined? Or do I make one portfolio for one topic and then make another for another topic? Kinda lost here (never done this before)
@janylakey
Does it have to be what I did for someone else bc I have a lot that I did for myself
@lolo57109

Thank you for this, some really great tips. I graduated school almost a year ago and have yet to make a portfolio I'm truly proud of. I'll take some ideas here and implement them for sure🙂

I can see how 10 projects is a decent amount to add, but I got advice from another designer, who told me to only incorporate 4-5 projects because more would over saturate. I still haven't gotten an internship, and I think 4-5 is too little.
